Greenpeace believes in bearing witness and taking action in order to bring about positive change, to protect the environment and to end social injustice. The Brighton Greenpeace group campaigns locally and nationally.

Campaign successes this year include helping to bring about massive changes to the entire UK tuna industry tuna, stopping toy manufacturers Mattel from using packaging from Indonesian rainforests, and successfully lobbying local politicians for a stronger UK carbon budget. So far this year, members of the group have occupied Cairn Energy's Scottish headquarters, blockaded tuna giant Princes' headquarters in Liverpool, travelled to Brussels to protest against lobbyists from the car industry, and taken part in creating the UK's largest ever guerrilla advertising campaign.

Greenpeace also organises and takes part in social events, including music nights, film showings, green fairs and a sustainable fashion show. The group has helped to raise money for the iconic new Rainbow Warrior III, the world's first purpose-built environmental campaigning ship, which was launched in November 2011.

The Brighton Greenpeace meets once a month to discuss campaigns and organise events. Click here to find out how to get involved
