Saturday, 03 March 2012, 10:00 - 15:00

fair trade festival 2012Climate Connections is proud to be part of this year Fairtrade Fortnight 2012 festival taking place in Jubilee Square, Brighton. A day of Fair Trade celebration with a marketplace, live music and food tasting! The event is free.

The event is organised by the Fair Trade Steering Group - Brighton & Hove and in partnership with the Co-operative Membership, Friends Centre and Brighton & Hove City Council.

Fair trade is about people getting a better price for their product, decent working conditions, long term sustainable solutions, fair terms of trade for farmers and workers in the global south, addressing the injustices of conventional trade, which traditionally discriminates against the poorest, least powerful producers.

Fair trade invests in environmental projects, encourages the use of fewer chemicals, fair trade products are mostly imported to the UK by ship and fair trade products have a lower carbon foot print than other products.
